FX-8300 vs FX-6300 comparison
In our benchmarks, the FX-8300 beats the FX-6300 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-6300 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the FX-8300 has slightly more cores with 4 cores whereas the FX-6300 has 3 cores. It also has more threads than the FX-6300. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-6300 has a slightly higher clock speed than the FX-8300. Despite this, the FX-8300 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the FX-8300 has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the FX-6300. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the FX-8300 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
