FX-8120 vs Core i7-4702MQ benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the FX-8120 is faster than the Core i7-4702MQ. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-4702MQ in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-8120 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-4702MQ. The Core i7-4702MQ outputs less heat than FX-8120 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the FX-8120 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-4702MQ. The FX-8120 also has slightly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the FX-8120 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
