FX-8120 vs Core i7-1065G7 comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-1065G7 performs better than the FX-8120. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-8120 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the FX-8120 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-1065G7. The Core i7-1065G7 outputs less heat than FX-8120 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the FX-8120 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-1065G7. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the FX-8120 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
