FX-6300 vs Xeon E5-520 benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the FX-6300 beats the Xeon E5-520 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-520 in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Xeon E5-520 has slightly more cores than the FX-6300. Indeed, the Xeon E5-520 has 4 cores compared to 3 cores found in the FX-6300. Despite this, the FX-6300 has more threads than the Xeon E5-520. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-6300 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-520. In terms of cache, the FX-6300 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Xeon E5-520. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the FX-6300 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
