FX-6300 vs Core i5-2300 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the FX-6300 is faster than the Core i5-2300. Despite this, the Core i5-2300 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-2300 has slightly more cores with 4 cores whereas the FX-6300 has 3 cores. Despite this, the FX-6300 has more threads than the Core i5-2300. Our comparison shows that the FX-6300 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-2300. Also, the FX-6300 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the FX-6300 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
