FX-6300 vs Core i5-1235U benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-1235U is faster than the FX-6300. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-6300 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-1235U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the FX-6300 that has 3 cores. It also has more threads than the FX-6300. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-6300 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-1235U. Despite this, the Core i5-1235U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-1235U outputs less heat than FX-6300 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the FX-6300 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-1235U. Despite this, the Core i5-1235U has significantly more L3 cache compared to the FX-6300.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the FX-6300 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
