FX-6300 vs Celeron G6900 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the FX-6300 beats the Celeron G6900 in overall performance. Despite this, the Celeron G6900 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the FX-6300 has significantly more cores with 3 cores compared to the Celeron G6900 that has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Celeron G6900. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-6300 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Celeron G6900. The Celeron G6900 outputs less heat than FX-6300 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the FX-6300 has significantly more L2 cache than the Celeron G6900. The FX-6300 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the FX-6300 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
