FX-4100 vs Pentium Silver J5040 comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Pentium Silver J5040 is faster than the FX-4100. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-4100 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Pentium Silver J5040 has significantly more cores than the FX-4100. Indeed, the Pentium Silver J5040 has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the FX-4100. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the FX-4100 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Pentium Silver J5040. The Pentium Silver J5040 outputs less heat than FX-4100 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the FX-4100 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
