EPYC 7543P vs Core i9-12900HX benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i9-12900HX is faster than the EPYC 7543P. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the EPYC 7543P in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the EPYC 7543P has significantly more cores than the Core i9-12900HX. Indeed, the EPYC 7543P has 32 cores compared to 16 cores found in the Core i9-12900HX. It also has more threads than the Core i9-12900HX. With our hardware info, we find that the EPYC 7543P has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i9-12900HX. Despite this, the Core i9-12900HX has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i9-12900HX outputs less heat than EPYC 7543P thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the EPYC 7543P has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-12900HX. The EPYC 7543P also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the EPYC 7543P has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
