Core i9-9900KF vs Ryzen 9 5900HX comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i9-9900KF performs better than the Ryzen 9 5900HX. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 9 5900HX in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i9-9900KF has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 9 5900HX. Also, the Core i9-9900KF has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 9 5900HX outputs less heat than Core i9-9900KF thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 9 5900HX has more L2 cache than the Core i9-9900KF. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i9-9900KF has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
