Core i9-9900KF vs Core i5-12450HX specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Core i9-9900KF beats the Core i5-12450HX in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-12450HX has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i9-9900KF has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i9-9900KF has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-12450HX. Also, the Core i9-9900KF has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-12450HX outputs less heat than Core i9-9900KF thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i5-12450HX has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i9-9900KF. Despite this, the Core i9-9900KF has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-12450HX.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i9-9900KF has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
