Core i9-9900 vs Ryzen Z1 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i9-9900 beats the Ryzen Z1 in overall performance. Despite this, the Ryzen Z1 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-9900 has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen Z1 that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen Z1. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen Z1 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-9900. Despite this, the Core i9-9900 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen Z1 outputs less heat than Core i9-9900 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen Z1 has more L2 cache than the Core i9-9900. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i9-9900 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
