Core i9-9900 vs Core i5-12500H benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-12500H beats the Core i9-9900 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i9-9900 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-12500H has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Core i9-9900 has 8 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i9-9900 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-12500H. Also, the Core i9-9900 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-12500H outputs less heat than Core i9-9900 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-12500H has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-9900. The Core i5-12500H also has slightly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i9-9900 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
