Core i9-9880H vs Xeon E-2146G specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon E-2146G is faster than the Core i9-9880H. Despite this, the Core i9-9880H has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i9-9880H has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Xeon E-2146G has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Xeon E-2146G. Our comparison shows that the Xeon E-2146G has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-9880H. Despite this, the Core i9-9880H has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i9-9880H CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E-2146G CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i9-9880H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
