Core i9-9880H vs Ryzen 5 7530U benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 5 7530U performs better than the Core i9-9880H. Despite this, the Core i9-9880H has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-9880H has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 7530U that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 7530U. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i9-9880H has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 7530U. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 7530U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-9880H. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i9-9880H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
