Core i9-9880H vs Ryzen 3 PRO 5350G benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i9-9880H performs better than the Ryzen 3 PRO 5350G. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 PRO 5350G has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-9880H has significantly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 PRO 5350G that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 PRO 5350G. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 PRO 5350G has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i9-9880H. Despite this, the Core i9-9880H has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i9-9880H CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 3 PRO 5350G CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache. The Core i9-9880H also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i9-9880H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
