Core i9-8950HK vs FX-8370 benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the FX-8370 is faster than the Core i9-8950HK. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i9-8950HK in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-8950HK has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the FX-8370 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the FX-8370. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the FX-8370 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-8950HK. Despite this, the Core i9-8950HK has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i9-8950HK CPU outputs less heat than a FX-8370 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the FX-8370 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-8950HK. Despite this, the Core i9-8950HK has significantly more L3 cache compared to the FX-8370.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i9-8950HK has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
