Core i9-14900KS vs Core i5-14400F benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i9-14900KS beats the Core i5-14400F in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-14400F in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i9-14900KS has significantly more cores than the Core i5-14400F. Indeed, the Core i9-14900KS has 24 cores compared to 10 cores found in the Core i5-14400F. It also has more threads than the Core i5-14400F. Our comparison shows that the Core i9-14900KS has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-14400F. Also, the Core i9-14900KS has a slightly higher turbo speed. In terms of cache, the Core i9-14900KS has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-14400F. The Core i9-14900KS also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i9-14900KS has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
