Core i9-14900K vs Ryzen 9 7950X3D specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Core i9-14900K beats the Ryzen 9 7950X3D in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 9 7950X3D in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i9-14900K has significantly more cores with 24 cores whereas the Ryzen 9 7950X3D has 16 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 9 7950X3D has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-14900K. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i9-14900K has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core i9-14900K.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i9-14900K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
