Core i9-14900HX vs Ryzen 9 7900 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 9 7900 is faster than the Core i9-14900HX. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i9-14900HX in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-14900HX has significantly more cores with 24 cores compared to the Ryzen 9 7900 that has 12 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 9 7900. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 7900 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i9-14900HX. The info from our database shows that the Core i9-14900HX has more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 7900. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 7900 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core i9-14900HX.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i9-14900HX has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
