Core i9-12900T vs Xeon E5-2697A v4 benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2697A v4 beats the Core i9-12900T in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i9-12900T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Xeon E5-2697A v4 has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-2697A v4 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i9-12900T. Despite this, the Core i9-12900T has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i9-12900T CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2697A v4 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Xeon E5-2697A v4 also has slightly more L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Core i9-12900T has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
