Core i9-12900T vs Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme beats the Core i9-12900T in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i9-12900T in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i9-12900T has significantly more cores than the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme. Indeed, the Core i9-12900T has 16 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme. It also has more threads than the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i9-12900T. Also, the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme outputs less heat than Core i9-12900T thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-12900T. Despite this, the Core i9-12900T has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Core i9-12900T has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
