Core i9-12900F vs Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX is faster than the Core i9-12900F. Despite this, the Core i9-12900F has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX has significantly more cores with 32 cores compared to the Core i9-12900F that has 16 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i9-12900F. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i9-12900F. Despite this, the Core i9-12900F has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i9-12900F CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i9-12900F has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
