Core i9-11900F vs Ryzen 7 8840U specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i9-11900F beats the Ryzen 7 8840U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 8840U in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 8840U has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i9-11900F. Despite this, the Core i9-11900F has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 7 8840U outputs less heat than Core i9-11900F thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 8840U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-11900F. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i9-11900F has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
