Core i9-10900K vs Core i5-13500HX comparison
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i9-10900K performs better than the Core i5-13500HX. Despite this, the Core i5-13500HX has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-13500HX has slightly more cores with 14 cores compared to the Core i9-10900K that has 10 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i9-10900K has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-13500HX. Also, the Core i9-10900K has a slightly higher turbo speed. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-13500HX has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-10900K. The Core i5-13500HX also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i9-10900K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
