Core i9-10900 vs Ryzen 5 8400F specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 8400F is faster than the Core i9-10900. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i9-10900 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-10900 has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 8400F that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 8400F. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 8400F has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-10900. Despite this, the Core i9-10900 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 8400F has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-10900. Despite this, the Core i9-10900 has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 8400F.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Core i9-10900 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
