Core i9-10900 vs Core i7-11700F specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i9-10900 beats the Core i7-11700F in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i7-11700F has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i9-10900 has slightly more cores than the Core i7-11700F. Indeed, the Core i9-10900 has 10 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Core i7-11700F. It also has more threads than the Core i7-11700F. Our comparison shows that the Core i9-10900 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-11700F. Also, the Core i9-10900 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i7-11700F has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-10900. Despite this, the Core i9-10900 has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i7-11700F.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i9-10900 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
