Core i9-10850K vs Core i7-12800HX specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-12800HX beats the Core i9-10850K in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i9-10850K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-12800HX has significantly more cores than the Core i9-10850K. Indeed, the Core i7-12800HX has 16 cores compared to 10 cores found in the Core i9-10850K. It also has more threads than the Core i9-10850K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i9-10850K has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-12800HX. Also, the Core i9-10850K has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-12800HX outputs less heat than Core i9-10850K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i7-12800HX has more L2 cache than the Core i9-10850K. The Core i7-12800HX also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i9-10850K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
