Core i7-9850H vs Xeon E5-2687W specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-9850H is faster than the Xeon E5-2687W. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2687W in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2687W has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Core i7-9850H has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-9850H. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2687W has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-9850H. Despite this, the Core i7-9850H has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-9850H CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2687W CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Xeon E5-2687W has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-9850H. The Xeon E5-2687W also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-9850H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
