Core i7-9700KF vs EPYC 74F3 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-9700KF beats the EPYC 74F3 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the EPYC 74F3 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the EPYC 74F3 has slightly more cores than the Core i7-9700KF. Indeed, the EPYC 74F3 has 9 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Core i7-9700KF. It also has more threads than the Core i7-9700KF. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-9700KF has a slightly higher clock speed than the EPYC 74F3. A Core i7-9700KF CPU outputs less heat than a EPYC 74F3 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the EPYC 74F3 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-9700KF. The EPYC 74F3 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i7-9700KF has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
