Core i7-9700K vs Xeon E5-2697 v3 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-9700K is faster than the Xeon E5-2697 v3. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2697 v3 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Xeon E5-2697 v3 has significantly more cores than the Core i7-9700K. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2697 v3 has 14 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Core i7-9700K. It also has more threads than the Core i7-9700K. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-9700K has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2697 v3. Also, the Core i7-9700K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-9700K CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2697 v3 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i7-9700K has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
