Core i7-9700K vs Ryzen 9 9955HX specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-9700K beats the Ryzen 9 9955HX in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 9 9955HX in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 9955HX has significantly more cores with 16 cores compared to the Core i7-9700K that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-9700K. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-9700K has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 9 9955HX. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 9955HX has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 9 9955HX outputs less heat than Core i7-9700K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 9 9955HX has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-9700K. The Ryzen 9 9955HX also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i7-9700K has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
