Core i7-9700F vs Xeon E5-2666 v3 comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-9700F is faster than the Xeon E5-2666 v3. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2666 v3 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has slightly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Core i7-9700F that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-9700F. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-9700F has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2666 v3. In terms of cache, the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-9700F. The Xeon E5-2666 v3 also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i7-9700F has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
