Core i7-9700F vs Ryzen 5 8500G comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-9700F is faster than the Ryzen 5 8500G. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 8500G has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-9700F has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 8500G that has 6 cores. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 8500G has more threads than the Core i7-9700F. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 8500G has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-9700F. Also, the Ryzen 5 8500G has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 8500G has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-9700F. The Ryzen 5 8500G also has slightly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i7-9700F has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
