Core i7-9700F vs Core i5-1240P comparison
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-1240P beats the Core i7-9700F in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i7-9700F has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-1240P has significantly more cores than the Core i7-9700F. Indeed, the Core i5-1240P has 12 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Core i7-9700F. It also has more threads than the Core i7-9700F. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-9700F has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-1240P. Also, the Core i7-9700F has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-1240P outputs less heat than Core i7-9700F thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-1240P has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-9700F. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i7-9700F has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
