Core i7-9700 vs Xeon E5-2666 v3 comparison

In our benchmarks, the Core i7-9700 beats the Xeon E5-2666 v3 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2666 v3 in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has slightly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Core i7-9700 has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-9700. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-9700 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2666 v3. In terms of cache, the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-9700. The Xeon E5-2666 v3 also has significantly more L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i7-9700 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
