Core i7-9700 vs Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-9700 performs better than the Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-9700 has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G that has 6 cores. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G has more threads than the Core i7-9700. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-9700. Despite this, the Core i7-9700 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-9700. Despite this, the Core i7-9700 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i7-9700 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
