Core i7-9700 vs Core i7-1265U comparison
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-9700 beats the Core i7-1265U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-1265U in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-1265U has slightly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Core i7-9700 that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-9700. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-9700 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-1265U. Despite this, the Core i7-1265U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-1265U outputs less heat than Core i7-9700 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i7-1265U has more L2 cache than the Core i7-9700. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i7-9700 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
