Core i7-9700 vs Core i5-13420H benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-9700 beats the Core i5-13420H in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-13420H in all gaming tests too.
Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Core i5-13420H has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-9700 has a much higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-13420H. Also, the Core i7-9700 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-13420H has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-9700. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i7-9700 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
