Core i7-9700 vs Core i5-12600T comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-9700 performs better than the Core i5-12600T. Despite this, the Core i5-12600T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-9700 has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Core i5-12600T that has 6 cores. Despite this, the Core i5-12600T has more threads than the Core i7-9700. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-9700 has a much higher clock speed than the Core i5-12600T. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-12600T has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-9700. The Core i5-12600T also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i7-9700 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
