Core i7-8850H vs Xeon E5-2660 v3 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon E5-2660 v3 is faster than the Core i7-8850H. Despite this, the Core i7-8850H has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2660 v3 has significantly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Core i7-8850H has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-8850H. According to our data, the Core i7-8850H and Xeon E5-2660 v3 have the same clock speed. Despite this, the Core i7-8850H has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-8850H CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2660 v3 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-8850H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
