Core i7-8850H vs Core i3-1220P benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-8850H is faster than the Core i3-1220P. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i3-1220P in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i3-1220P has significantly more cores than the Core i7-8850H. Indeed, the Core i3-1220P has 10 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Core i7-8850H. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-8850H has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i3-1220P. Despite this, the Core i3-1220P has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i3-1220P outputs less heat than Core i7-8850H thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i3-1220P has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-8850H. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i7-8850H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
