Core i7-8750H vs Ryzen 7 3700U benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-8750H performs better than the Ryzen 7 3700U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 3700U in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-8750H has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Ryzen 7 3700U that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 3700U. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 3700U has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-8750H. The Ryzen 7 3700U outputs less heat than Core i7-8750H thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3700U has slightly more L2 cache than the Core i7-8750H. Despite this, the Core i7-8750H has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 7 3700U.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-8750H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
