Core i7-8750H vs Core i7-4790K benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-8750H beats the Core i7-4790K in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i7-4790K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-8750H has significantly more cores than the Core i7-4790K. Indeed, the Core i7-8750H has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Core i7-4790K. It also has more threads than the Core i7-4790K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-4790K has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-8750H. Also, the Core i7-4790K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-8750H CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-4790K CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-8750H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
