Core i7-8700T vs Xeon E5-2667 v2 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E5-2667 v2 performs better than the Core i7-8700T. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-8700T in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Xeon E5-2667 v2 has slightly more cores than the Core i7-8700T. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2667 v2 has 8 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Core i7-8700T. It also has more threads than the Core i7-8700T. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2667 v2 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-8700T. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. A Core i7-8700T CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2667 v2 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-8700T has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
