Core i7-8700T vs Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G comparison
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G beats the Core i7-8700T in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-8700T in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-8700T has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G. Indeed, the Core i7-8700T has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-8700T. Despite this, the Core i7-8700T has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-8700T CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-8700T. Despite this, the Core i7-8700T has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-8700T has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
