Core i7-8700T vs Core i7-1255U specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-1255U beats the Core i7-8700T in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-8700T in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-1255U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Core i7-8700T that has 6 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i7-8700T has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-1255U. Despite this, the Core i7-1255U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-1255U outputs less heat than Core i7-8700T thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i7-1255U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-8700T. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Core i7-8700T has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
