Core i7-8700T vs Core 7 150U comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core 7 150U is faster than the Core i7-8700T. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-8700T in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core 7 150U has significantly more cores than the Core i7-8700T. Indeed, the Core 7 150U has 10 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Core i7-8700T. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-8700T has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core 7 150U. Despite this, the Core 7 150U has a slightly higher turbo speed. In terms of cache, the Core 7 150U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-8700T. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-8700T has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
