Core i7-8700K vs Xeon E5-2695 v2 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-8700K beats the Xeon E5-2695 v2 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2695 v2 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2695 v2 has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Core i7-8700K has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-8700K. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i7-8700K has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2695 v2. Also, the Core i7-8700K has a significantly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-8700K CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2695 v2 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Core i7-8700K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
