Core i7-8700K vs Core i7-1365U benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-8700K is faster than the Core i7-1365U. Despite this, the Core i7-1365U has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-1365U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Core i7-8700K that has 6 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i7-8700K has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-1365U. Despite this, the Core i7-1365U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i7-1365U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-8700K. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-8700K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
